Los Updates Feat. Villallobos & Dandy Jack - First If You Please rmx (Cadenza)

Chilli slaat de handen ineen op First If You Please: de Chilleense Jorge Gonzalez en Loreto Otero vormen samen Los Updates. Hun beroemde landgenoten Ricardo Villalobos en Luciano remixten Los Updates' de gewaagde popsongs welke grenzen aan minimal house. 13 minuten aaneen rijdt Villalobos' 4 Wheel Drive remix met een onweerstaanbare groove door een psycho-akoestisch landschap. Dandy Jack remixte het nummer Inviting You Here naar een housy techno nummer. Op de volgende release van Los Updates volgen de remixen van onder andere Luciano en Tobias.
Dj Misk (AltroVerso / IT): 'The villalobos remix is nice. Its exotic sounds marked by psychedelic aestethics are a valid reason to play this track.'
2000 and one (Intacto): 'Phat, phat!!! ricardo creates a tru trip, he always does this. I played this last weekend from the beginning untill the end, never boring and so funky.'

D'Julz - Yo Momo (Intacto)

Wanneer de naald het origineel van D’Julz aanraakt hoor je al dat dit een mooie gaat worden. De in Parijs wonende Julien Veniel aka D’julz heeft voor Yo Momo zijn krachten gebundeld met het Nederlandse Intacto. De funky dubby sound past goed op een zonnig festivalterrein. De sound van D’Julz Yo Momo had zo uit de handen van Shinedoe kunnen komen, niet raar dus dat zij een mooie remix heeft gemaakt die ook op Yo Momo te vinden is.

Danny Ocean - Lights In My Dark World (Desolat)

Van het Desolat label (van Loco Dice en Martin Buttrich) uit Düsseldorf, verschijnt deze week het werk van Danny Ocean. Lights In My Dark World heeft iets weg van een filmsoundtrack uit de jaren 80. Zo’n scène waarin de hoofdrolspeler onder begeleiding van alleen muziek aan zijn bureau zit te schrijven een paar nachten doorwerkt, de lege bekertjes koffie nemen steeds harder zijn bureau over, maar het lukt: de onmogelijke opdracht is geslaagd en hij is een succesvolle zakenman die handen met alle hoge piefen schudt. Je kent het wel, toch? Op Flashing gaat de dansbaarheid ineens rap omhoog. Een fijn tech-house nummer voor een blockbuster.

Solomun & Stimming - Eiszauber, Motorcitysoul, Lawrence Rmxs (Diynamic)

De Lawrence remix heeft een lekker sleepje, waardoor de tijdens het zweven op de ambientsound van Eiszauber steeds, ketjang, even zweepje krijgt. Motorcitysoul remixt Eiszauber met een beetje meer tempo. Het catchy melodietje wordt begeleid met een vrolijk dwingend baslijntje. Twee platen die fijn zijn voor in de platentas wanneer je graag blije gezichten ziet op de dansvloer.

Een album vol knusse mash-ups. Vooral de funky bewerking van The Beatstalkers van Marvin Gaye’s I Heard It Through The Grapevine, zijn we ‘just about to loose our minds’. De mash-ups gaan van hip-hop, naar reggae, naar funk. The Tide Is High wordt reggea, Hooded Horsemen gaat funk. De vocals van Wu Tang Clan blijven rauw klinken maar op de Baby I Like It Raw versie van Dooza kunnen de heren nog zulke grove teksten schreeuwen; ze klinken gewoon vrolijk.
